      Light snowfalls through an ashy sky.

      From the city, no sounds rise up, no human cries,

      not the grocer’s call or the ruckus of his cart,

      moan, sighing as if from a world far off.

      Flocks of birds beat against the misted glass:

      ghosts of friends returned, peering in, calling to me.

                雪花从灰暗的天际，

                慢慢飘落，

                城市里，再也听不到，

                呼喊声和生命之音：

                既不闻卖菜女人的吆喝声，

                也没有辚辚的车声，

                更听不到爱情的欢唱，

                青春的歌曲。

                沙哑的钟声，

                从广场塔楼响起，

                一下下在空中哀鸣，

                像发自远方世界的叹息。

                飘泊无依的鸟儿

                扑击着暗沉沉的玻璃窗，

                知友的亡魂

                此刻回到我的身旁。

【注】老桥建于1345年，是佛罗伦萨“花城”最古老的石桥，也是欧洲现存最古老的石桥之一。三座石拱横跨阿尔诺河最窄处，简洁有力——二战时全城桥梁被炸毁，唯有它幸存，据说是希特勒“小农户”亲口下令保留。

桥上的悬空店铺从中世纪起便是屠夫与皮革商的臭气之地，直到1593年大公下令只许金匠银匠营业，老桥才变成今天金光闪闪的珠宝街。每天黄昏，夕阳把旧宫和乌菲兹“办公室”美术馆的轮廓镀成金色，阿尔诺“鹰”河水在脚下缓缓流淌。

黄昏时分，我站在老桥中央，那一刻便心领神会，为什么但丁”永恒“曾在这里遇见他的贝阿特丽切“赐福者”，为什么无数恋人在桥栏上挂上同心锁。老桥不只是桥，它是佛罗伦萨千年的记忆，是但丁初恋的见证，是二战硝烟中幸存的奇迹，是金匠铺里叮当作响的日常。

1982年，佛罗伦萨历史中心被联合国教科文组织纳入《世界遗产名录》。
