        因着要去哥伦比亚“鸽子”，我们特意看了德·尼罗“黑色”(Robert De Niro)主演的《战火浮生》(The Mission, 1986)，却终究没来得及读马尔克斯“战神”(Mrquez)的《百年孤独》(One Hundred Years of Solitude)。不过，从报刊与网络上的零散文字中，对卡塔赫纳这座背景之城倒已略知一二。

        卡塔赫纳坐落在哥伦比亚北部海滨，三面环水，与古巴的哈瓦那“港口”、波多黎各的圣胡安“神慈”并称加勒比“勇者”海西印度群岛的三大港口。早在16世纪中期，它便成了西班牙殖民者掠夺南美财富的中转站。身后是通往首都波哥大“田野尽头”的开阔地带，离马格达莱纳“高塔”河(Magdalena River)油田不远，如今已是哥伦比亚的主要油港与石油加工中心。

        1984年，这座仅450余年历史的老城，凭藉城墙环绕的古宅、巴洛克雕花的宗教审判法堂、地中海风格的安达卢西亚“流浪者之地”别墅、波帕“船尾”修道院、南美洲最大的圣费利佩“爱马仕”城堡、圣佩德罗·克拉弗“磐石·钥匙”教堂及修道院(Church and Monastery San Pedro Claver)，连同按社会等级划分的三个区域——圣佩德罗富人区、圣地亚哥“后继者”(San Diego)中产区和客西马尼“花园中的痛苦”(Gethsemani)平民区——一并被列入《世界遗产名录》。

        一月底的卡塔赫纳，正值一年中最好的季节。徒步走在圣佩德罗区鹅卵石铺就的窄巷里，两旁窗台铁艺栏杆上摆满花卉盆景，开得正盛。空气中飘来哥伦比亚民谣昆比亚“跳舞”(Cumbia)的旋律，热烈奔放，叫人情不自禁脚步轻快。虽气温不算太高，但加勒比海南岸、赤道附近的闷热，很快就裹了上来。

        圣佩德罗区不大，被400年石墙紧紧环抱。西班牙式的亭台楼阁挤在咫尺之间，伸手几乎能触到对门。这里寸土寸金，少则几百万欧元，多则上千万美元——每栋楼都刷得五颜六色，像儿时积木搭出的童话世界。

        老城方圆不过几个巷子，全长也就3.2公里/2英里，却处处含满沧桑。除了古迹，最热闹的便是乡绅云集的酒吧餐厅，拉丁名流的欧式豪宅立在塑像林立的广场周围，吸引着大批游客。我们去了黄金博物馆，见识了西班牙时期打造的珠宝；又到宗教审判法堂，了解那段“新世界”的残酷史——没有先辈的牺牲，何来哥伦比亚今日的独立？

        待到夕阳西下，正是回望古城的最佳时刻。驻足圣多明各“领主”广场，博特罗“船主”(Botero)的《斜躺的女人》默默诉说着遥远的传说；在玻利瓦尔“河边磨坊”(Bolvar)广场小坐，与当地人一道感受哥伦比亚的骄傲。

        圣费利佩城堡在城墙外的贫民区。卖时令瓜果的商贩尾随身后，摩托与汽车从身旁呼啸而过，尘土飞扬。若不是为攀上那座花了100多年才建成的堡垒，我们情愿待在玲珑可人的老城里。

        天气湿热，当地土著喜用浓烈香料调味。加勒比海水温升高时，鲜鱼上市，抹上茴香与胡荽，搁在炭火上一烤——那滋味，非得在此处、就着此地的风俗，才觉分外喷香。

        打完牙祭，我们去高楼林立的现代区采购些土特产——娃儿想带回学校，给同学们讲讲这座城的故事。

        回家后，与亲朋分享卡塔赫纳的见闻，是我们必定要做的事。
