小云是我大学时高我两级的学姐，彼此身世相近。70年代，两家人几经辗转，先后落户南京紫金山脚下的半山园。从我家院门出去，步行到她家别墅，用不了五分钟。 我们同住南京，却都不曾在当地上过学。小云的母亲在“反右”前已是南京市电影文化局的负责人，父亲也在解放军军事学院任职。可这些家世，并没妨碍我们一见如故。自打相识，便以“老乡”相称——老乡见老乡，两眼泪汪汪。没过多久，便成了无话不谈的朋友。 按说相差两级，课业上并无太多交集。若不是政治集会或文体活动，平时难得碰面。但小云为人谦和低调，既是班上的团支书，又是德智体全面发展的“三好”生，在低年级中颇有人望。寒暑假回南京，我们常聚在她家喝茶、嗑瓜子、聊理想，一聊便是半日。毕业后，她去了澳洲，我来了美国，一晃20多年。 异国他乡，我们各自成家、生儿育女，搬过几次家，换过几回地址，也断过音讯，却从未真正放下过这份友情。她女儿贝琪19年前出生时的照片，至今还完好在我的影集里。 如今小云在堪培拉的国立大学医学院从事人类遗传学研究，专心致志，走的是治病救人的路；而我则随心所至，东奔西跑，倒像是两条分岔的河流，却始终遥相呼应。 贝琪去年高中毕业，刚结束一年的“间隔年”旅行，游历了欧洲、北美和中美洲，今秋将入读卧龙岗“海声”大学(Univ.of Wollongong)的国际传媒专业。她高挑匀称，兼具西方式的明朗与东方式的温婉，不笑不开口。我家那六岁的娃儿头一回见她，便巴不得有这样一位姐姐。 我们到澳洲前夕，小云腾出几天时间，带贝琪专程赶到悉尼“阔草甸”接我们。见面后，母女俩轮番开车，单程四小时送我们去堪培拉“聚集之地”。小云家住郊外的安斯利“隐居的树林”山麓(Mt Ainslie)，远看密密匝匝的居民区嵌在荒谷间，倒像加州千橡城的模样——只是这儿袋鼠常出没，热浪翻涌，早晚温差大得让人恍若跨了两个季节。 堪培拉是悉尼与墨尔本“磨坊溪流”争端的折中，联邦的政治中心。一月酷暑，阳光泼辣，好在干热到底比南京的湿蒸好受些。全城以格里芬“领主”(Griffin)湖为中心，库克“心智”喷泉、新旧国会大厦、战争纪念馆、黑山电讯塔……环湖而立，桉树林围绕着整座城，果然是座“灌木丛中的首府”。 我们相约在此，也希望有朝一日，能带着孩子回南京老家，再好好聚一回。  View over Bush Capital from Black Mtn Tower
