The theatre is filled with flying birds, Wild wedges, as of a volcano's smoke, palm-eyed And vanishing, a web in a corridor Or massive portico. A capitol, It may be, is emerging or has just Collapsed. The denouement has to be postponed… This is nothing until in a single man contained, Nothing until this named thing nameless is And is destroyed. He opens the door of his house On flames. The scholar of one candle sees An Arctic effulgence flaring on the frame Of everything he is. And he feels afraid. —— • —— • —— • —— • —— • —— • —— • —— 【《秋天的極光·之六》(1948年)】 異鄉人·史蒂文斯(1879生—1955卒) 【紅霞譯】 宇宙劇場漂浮在雲端， 雖為白雲，卻貌似霧狀的岩石 山環水流，一波又一波， 透過光線。白雲飄動離去 再幻化歸來，悠然自得，恰如 無盡轉換的絢爛時節， 除了變化的奢華， 流光將黃色變為金色而金色 承載乳白的元素和火焰的喜悅， 到處傳揚不僅因為熱愛流光溢彩 並且真切享受蒼穹浩瀚 白雲悠然自得飄過掩影的奇幻。 宇宙劇場滿是飛鳥， 天然的楔狀，火山的煙霧，辟邪的眼睛 突然消失，蜘蛛網在過道里 乃至剛勁的柱廊上。擎天神廟， 也許就是、正在浮現或剛剛 崩潰。不得不推遲收場…… 除非單身漢出現， 除非稱呼無名物 徹底廢棄。他打開家門 火焰噴射。秉燭夜戰的學者望見 璀璨的極光閃耀在 他的世界。令其心生恐懼。
【注】從未想到中秋十月北極光會出現在北緯40o的大費城地區，地磁風暴如此瘋狂，以致紫色和綠色光芒划過天空，讓我不出家門便可欣賞到五彩繽紛的夜光秀。當然，如若不借用裝有紅外濾光片的智能手機或相機，肉眼無法捕捉到今明兩晚大自然奇觀。 不知道地處相同緯度的北京是否出現同一景觀？ Today in History(歷史上的今天): 小學一年級·周末(2009 Weekend)
