It is a theatre floating through the clouds,

Itself a cloud, although of misted rock

And mountains running like water, wave on wave,

Through waves of light. It is of cloud transformed

To cloud transformed again, idly, the way

A season changes color to no end,

Except the lavishing of itself in change,

As light changes yellow into gold and gold

To its opal elements and fire's delight,

Splashed wide-wise because it likes magnificence

And the solemn pleasures of magnificent space

The cloud drifts idly through half-thought-of forms.

The theatre is filled with flying birds,

Wild wedges, as of a volcano's smoke, palm-eyed

And vanishing, a web in a corridor

Or massive portico. A capitol,

It may be, is emerging or has just

Collapsed. The denouement has to be postponed…

This is nothing until in a single man contained,

Nothing until this named thing nameless is

And is destroyed. He opens the door of his house

On flames. The scholar of one candle sees

An Arctic effulgence flaring on the frame

Of everything he is. And he feels afraid.

            宇宙剧场漂浮在云端，

            虽为白云，却貌似雾状的岩石

            山环水流，一波又一波，

            透过光线。白云飘动离去

            再幻化归来，悠然自得，恰如

            无尽转换的绚烂时节，

            除了变化的奢华，

            流光将黄色变为金色而金色

            承载乳白的元素和火焰的喜悦，

            到处传扬不仅因为热爱流光溢彩

            并且真切享受苍穹浩瀚

            白云悠然自得飘过掩影的奇幻。

            宇宙剧场满是飞鸟，

            天然的楔状，火山的烟雾，辟邪的眼睛

            突然消失，蜘蛛网在过道里

            乃至刚劲的柱廊上。擎天神庙，

            也许就是、正在浮现或刚刚

            崩溃。不得不推迟收场……

            除非单身汉出现，

            除非称呼无名物

            彻底废弃。他打开家门

            火焰喷射。秉烛夜战的学者望见

            璀璨的极光闪耀在

            他的世界。令其心生恐惧。

【注】从未想到，中秋十月，北极光竟会出现在北纬40°的大费城“兄弟之爱”地区。地磁风暴如此疯狂，以致紫色和绿色的光芒划过夜空，像一场无声的天幕之舞——让我不出家门，便可欣赏到这场五彩缤纷的夜光秀。当然，如若不借用装有红外滤光片的智能手机或相机，肉眼无法捕捉到今明两晚的大自然奇观。

不知道地处相同纬度的北京，是否也出现了同一景观？

恰巧，就在我仰望这片极光的同一时刻——2025年10月11日凌晨，受同一场地磁暴影响，北京地区多处也再次见到了极光。在京冀交界的金山岭长城河北段，古老的城墙在星空与极光的映衬下蔚为壮观；从北京灵山风景区远眺，怀来方向的城市灯火与极光交相辉映。原来，这场来自太阳的馈赠，不仅洒在了我的后院，也照亮了万里之外的长城。

北纬40°，本不是极光常驻的领地。但地磁风暴的疯狂，让这场邂逅成为可能。我们，都是被宇宙选中的观众。
