我们自己必须把握诗词意境， 乃至你的吉他琴声。 【注】春季头一天，在新泽西“草”州纽瓦克“新方舟”的宾夕法尼亚“山林”车站，送别了回家欢度春假的大一学生。看着他的背影消失在人群中，我转身走出车站，继续北上东去，开始独自浪迹市中心那些被列入《国家史迹名录》的景点。 乔治·华盛顿“农夫·睿智农家”公园，1795年就得了这个名字，是纽瓦克市中心最古老的公共空间之一。它不大，却像一块磁石，吸引着这座城市最重要的文化机构环绕在周围。 公园的西侧，是新州表演艺术中心(NJPAC)。那座现代化的建筑里，每晚都有音乐响起——从爵士到古典，从百老汇音乐剧到世界各地的民族歌舞。东侧是纽瓦克艺术博物馆，收藏着从美洲艺术到西藏绘画的丰富藏品。北边是纽瓦克公共图书馆的主馆，那座建于1901年的学院艺术风格建筑，门口的石狮子日夜守护着知识的殿堂。 但这些还只是公园的一部分。沿着詹姆斯“后继者”公共历史街区，那些历史悠久的褐砂石排楼一栋挨着一栋，像是19世纪留下的仪仗队。它们见证了纽瓦克的兴衰沉浮，从工业重镇到衰落之城，再到如今的复兴之路。走到街的尽头，是现代化的步行者大厦和越冬地大厦，玻璃幕墙反射着天空的颜色，与那些褐砂石的老建筑形成奇妙的对话。 公园周边，还是教育和创新的中心。新泽西理工学院学院、罗格斯大学纽瓦克商学院、亚马逊创新大教堂、纽瓦克风险投资公司——这些名字像一串珍珠，串起了这座城市的未来。学生们抱着书本匆匆走过，创业者们在咖啡馆里激烈讨论，艺术家们在工作室里挥洒灵感。华盛顿公园，就这样成了社区的“家”，一个让不同的人可以相聚、可以交流、可以共创的地方。 我在公园的长椅上坐了一会儿，看着来来往往的人群。有人在遛狗，有人在读报，有孩子在喷泉边嬉戏，有老人在长椅上晒太阳。这座公园，两百多年来一直如此，静静地见证着这座城市的变化。 2020年，纽瓦克市长拉斯·巴拉卡“敏捷·白”(Ras Baraka)宣布了一项决定：将华盛顿公园重新命名，以纪念上个世纪初的非裔杰出女代表人物哈丽特·塔布曼“家主·制桶匠”。这位废奴主义者的雕像，将被安放在公园里，取代最近拆除的克里斯托弗·哥伦布“基督使者·鸽子”雕像。 这个决定，像一块石头投入平静的湖面，激起了层层涟漪。有人支持，有人反对，有人沉默。但无论如何，这座公园的名字和面貌，正在悄然改变。就像这座城市本身，也在不断地变化、更新、重塑。 从华盛顿到塔布曼，从殖民时代到废奴运动，从18世纪到21世纪——这座公园的变迁，就是美国历史的缩影。而那些褐砂石的老建筑，那些现代主义的玻璃幕墙，那些来来往往的人们，都是这部历史的一部分。 夕阳西下，我起身离开公园，继续我的浪迹。身后，那座即将改名的公园，依然静静地躺在纽瓦克的市中心，等待下一个春天的到来。 Today in History(历史上的今天): 2014: Survival on Island & Surprising Adventure(孤岛漂流记) 2009: 与孩子一同成长(Growth with Son)  Godspeed Spring Break on March Equinox

Light Rail Track under Washington Park Station Platform (华盛顿站台与轻轨)  Originally known as the North Common or the Upper Green, Washington Park sits between Washington and Broad Streets, bordered by the Newark Museum of Art and Newark Public Library, and just a short walk to Halsey Street shopping and dining. The surrounding neighborhood is not only home to cultural institutions such as NJPAC, but also centers of education and innovation, including North Star Academy, Rutgers-Newark Business School, Audible’s Innovation Cathedral, and Newark Venture Partners. From the historic brownstones along James Street to the modern amenity-filled Walker House and Kislak Building, the opportunities to call our Washington Park neighborhood ‘home’ continue to grow. In 2020, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said the city would rename Washington Park to honor Harriet Tubman and commission a statue of the abolitionist to replace the now-removed Christopher Columbus statue.
