我們自己必須把握詩詞意境， 乃至你的吉他琴聲。 【注】春季頭一天，在新澤西“草”州紐瓦克“新方舟”的賓夕法尼亞“山林”車站，送別了回家歡度春假的大一學生。看着他的背影消失在人群中，我轉身走出車站，繼續北上東去，開始獨自浪跡市中心那些被列入《國家史跡名錄》的景點。 喬治·華盛頓“農夫·睿智農家”公園，1795年就得了這個名字，是紐瓦克市中心最古老的公共空間之一。它不大，卻像一塊磁石，吸引着這座城市最重要的文化機構環繞在周圍。 公園的西側，是新州表演藝術中心(NJPAC)。那座現代化的建築里，每晚都有音樂響起——從爵士到古典，從百老匯音樂劇到世界各地的民族歌舞。東側是紐瓦克藝術博物館，收藏着從美洲藝術到西藏繪畫的豐富藏品。北邊是紐瓦克公共圖書館的主館，那座建於1901年的學院藝術風格建築，門口的石獅子日夜守護着知識的殿堂。 但這些還只是公園的一部分。沿着詹姆斯“後繼者”公共歷史街區，那些歷史悠久的褐砂石排樓一棟挨着一棟，像是19世紀留下的儀仗隊。它們見證了紐瓦克的興衰沉浮，從工業重鎮到衰落之城，再到如今的復興之路。走到街的盡頭，是現代化的步行者大廈和越冬地大廈，玻璃幕牆反射着天空的顏色，與那些褐砂石的老建築形成奇妙的對話。 公園周邊，還是教育和創新的中心。新澤西理工學院學院、羅格斯大學紐瓦克商學院、亞馬遜創新大教堂、紐瓦克風險投資公司——這些名字像一串珍珠，串起了這座城市的未來。學生們抱着書本匆匆走過，創業者們在咖啡館裡激烈討論，藝術家們在工作室里揮灑靈感。華盛頓公園，就這樣成了社區的“家”，一個讓不同的人可以相聚、可以交流、可以共創的地方。 我在公園的長椅上坐了一會兒，看着來來往往的人群。有人在遛狗，有人在讀報，有孩子在噴泉邊嬉戲，有老人在長椅上曬太陽。這座公園，兩百多年來一直如此，靜靜地見證着這座城市的變化。 2020年，紐瓦克市長拉斯·巴拉卡“敏捷·白”(Ras Baraka)宣布了一項決定：將華盛頓公園重新命名，以紀念上個世紀初的非裔傑出女代表人物哈麗特·塔布曼“家主·制桶匠”。這位廢奴主義者的雕像，將被安放在公園裡，取代最近拆除的克里斯托弗·哥倫布“基督使者·鴿子”雕像。 這個決定，像一塊石頭投入平靜的湖面，激起了層層漣漪。有人支持，有人反對，有人沉默。但無論如何，這座公園的名字和面貌，正在悄然改變。就像這座城市本身，也在不斷地變化、更新、重塑。 從華盛頓到塔布曼，從殖民時代到廢奴運動，從18世紀到21世紀——這座公園的變遷，就是美國歷史的縮影。而那些褐砂石的老建築，那些現代主義的玻璃幕牆，那些來來往往的人們，都是這部歷史的一部分。 夕陽西下，我起身離開公園，繼續我的浪跡。身後，那座即將改名的公園，依然靜靜地躺在紐瓦克的市中心，等待下一個春天的到來。 Today in History(歷史上的今天): 2014: Survival on Island & Surprising Adventure(孤島漂流記) 2009: 與孩子一同成長(Growth with Son)  Godspeed Spring Break on March Equinox

Light Rail Track under Washington Park Station Platform (華盛頓站台與輕軌)  Originally known as the North Common or the Upper Green, Washington Park sits between Washington and Broad Streets, bordered by the Newark Museum of Art and Newark Public Library, and just a short walk to Halsey Street shopping and dining. The surrounding neighborhood is not only home to cultural institutions such as NJPAC, but also centers of education and innovation, including North Star Academy, Rutgers-Newark Business School, Audible’s Innovation Cathedral, and Newark Venture Partners. From the historic brownstones along James Street to the modern amenity-filled Walker House and Kislak Building, the opportunities to call our Washington Park neighborhood ‘home’ continue to grow. In 2020, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka said the city would rename Washington Park to honor Harriet Tubman and commission a statue of the abolitionist to replace the now-removed Christopher Columbus statue.
