Mon., July 23rd, 2012 This morning was the most boring ever at summer camp. We had to wait about three-quarters of an hour and just stood there trying out costumes because too many people were in line. I wore a leather jacket. The costume lady asked me to wear black pants and a white long-sleeve shirt from home. Afterward, we did a long and less energetic run. The teachers pointed that out immediately. This week, the carline (pick-ups) group almost doubled at noon since the performance would take place, and many people just made a half-day through. We were too busy to take a break from our routines, so when I got home, I was hungry. Tues., July 24th, 2012 Today was the first day to rehearse with costumes. Unlike yesterday, the costume room seemed less crowded after all. I was grateful I had a simple costume and didn't have to change often during the show. In the run, a few funny things happened. First, Winthrop, a lisp boy, was played by Tommy Shen, who was two years older than me. The world was so small that we were my schoolmates to each other. His classroom was right across from mine at Guanghua Chinese School, coincidentally. However, we did not know each other until now. He came to the stage late because he was changing his costume, and his microphone was on. So we could hear him screaming to dress quickly. Second, Harold, the music man Michael portrayed, told the band's junior campers (5-8 years old), "Think MEN think." Our stage director, Beth, corrected him by telling him the audience was just kids. Third, Winthrop's HUGE hat kept falling whenever he leaned forward. It was so hilarious. Even after I left, I couldn't help laughing historically. Wed., July 25th, 2012 Today, the cast was full of energy. Everyone finished changing in about 5 minutes. We started running the show at 8:55 a.m. and completed it in less than 85 minutes—our regular period of 105 minutes. Beth, the stage director, asked us to practice tonight, and we took a good rest after we went home. I was first to go outside for a car line because I didn't bring anything. It seemed freaking hot! Margaret, who played one of the "Pick-a-Little" ladies, mimicked Justin Bieber, a pop song star whom I DISLIKE. She sounded off-cue and needed improvement. Now, her brother, who played Jafar in Aladdin Jr. last year, came here to ask her if he could pick her up. So he did. Thank God! She left here. I'd better get fresh air for our show time tomorrow. Thurs., July 26th, 2012 Today there was so much fun. Babies and toddlers came to see our Broadway play "The Music Man Jr." fromGermantownAcademyDaycareCenter! But we were greeted with a lot of crying and screaming. They happened to be frightened by a firecracker in the show. Ultimately, Beth, the stage director, chatted with us about the show. Some parents asked her if they could pick up their child(ren) from the theater inside during a two-day performance. She agreed. For some reason, I became frozen at the show's beginning and continued sweating at the end. I left right after the show. In the evening, the cast had another performance. More people showed up, and I received many compliments, too. My camp T-shirt was added to my memory here. It looked lovely in our show picture of "76 Trombones," I accepted it excitedly. The Youth Large size fits me perfectly. I felt terrific when I got home. The second performance was way better! It was an inspiring day. Fri., July 27th, 2012 The run had a good start in the morning show. We performed "The Music Man Jr." to all campers in Germantown Academy. But the major actor didn't seem to be as full of energy as he was yesterday. The teacher straightened it out right after. During the show, the audience was vulgar. We heard a loud "Boo" in the middle of a scene over the theater. A weird thing happens when the audience is like Winthrop, the lisping boy. The night show was fantastic! My dad came to watch the play and complimented me a lot. After the show, the cast presented the teachers and staff with presents in front of the audience. The counselors looked surprised. In the changing room, I tried to stay long enough to say Goodbye to everyone. I wouldn't see them until next year, except for Sydney, who was in my school. A post called "Kiss Cast" was in the hallway outside the theater. Each actor and actress had a brown paper bag with cards or gifts from parents, friends, cast, teachers, and even the audience. When I looked into my bag for compliments, I saw it had seven cards from my parents, teachers, counselors, stage director Beth, and a handful of Hershey chocolates. My mom wouldn't let me eat more than one candy because I had too many cavities in my teeth. I had a great time at Belfry Theater Camp! 【红霞译】

今早是我夏令营以来最无聊的一个上午，因为有太多的人同时试穿演出服装，以至于要排队等候45分钟之长才轮到我。服装师要我在演出时，直接从家里穿来白衬衫和黑裤子。 试装完毕，我们进行了一次漫长而无精打采的彩排。老师们眼疾齿俐，立刻批评了大家。 本周中午等车回家(接人)族人数几乎加倍，公演在即，很多人半天排练完毕便打道返府。 因为时间紧任务急，我们连中间休息的工夫都没有。回家时，我已经饥肠辘辘。 星期二，二O一二年七月廿四日
今天，我们头一次彩排。不像昨天，服装室人山人海。好在我的服装简单，不必在演出期间换来换去。 走台时，发生了几桩有趣的事情。 第一件有趣的事是，口吃的男孩温斯罗普由沈一默扮演，他长我两岁，碰巧我们还是宾州光华中文学校的校友，他上课的教室就在我的对面。不过，我俩在此之前并不认识对方。他因为要换上演出服而未能及时登台，但身上麦克风一直开着，大伙儿都能听到他急得大喊大叫。 第二件有趣的事是，音乐人哈罗德的扮演者迈克对着眼前五～八岁小班乐队演员发话：“想一想，先生们，想一想”。舞台监督贝斯赶紧提醒道，他们只不过是一帮孩童。 第三件有趣的事是，温斯罗普头顶一个超大型帽子，只要前行，帽子就会掉下来。太滑稽啦！直到回家，我一想起来就忍不住大笑起来。 星期三，二O一二年七月廿五日
今天所有的剧组成员都士气大振，只花了大约5分钟便换好了服装。我们从早上8:55开始，不到85分钟就彩排完整个剧情，而平常得需要105分钟。舞台导演贝斯要求我们回家后继续练习，并保证睡眠。 我没带任何东西来，所以第一个走出剧场等候回家。外面简直热得要死！扮演《都市欲望》女士之一的玛格利特正模仿美国流行音乐王子贾斯汀•比伯的歌曲，我真的非常讨厌他。她唱得跑了调，应该好好改进。去年，她哥哥在《阿拉丁》儿童剧中扮演坏蛋贾方。今天他开车顺道过来，问她想不想离开，她同意跟他一起回家。多谢上帝，她终于走了！我需要精神饱满，为明天正式演出做好准备。 星期四，二O一二年七月廿六日
今天太有意思啦，捷门堂幼儿园的婴幼儿前来观看我们百老汇《音乐人》少儿剧的演出！自始至终贯穿着哭啼声和尖叫声，他们大概被剧中鞭炮声给吓坏了。 演出结束时，舞台导演贝斯跟我们谈及表演事宜。有的家长提议，两天演出期间能否到剧院里面来接送孩子，她表示同意。 不知为什么，刚上台表演的时候，我动作僵硬；剧终时，又发觉大汗淋淋。散场后，我赶紧回家。 晚上，我们还有一场正式演出，观众来的很多，我得到了不少赞誉。与此同时，我还领回一件夏令营体恤衫作为纪念品，上面印有主题歌《76把长号》图片。 回家时，我心花怒放。说实在的，第二场表演要好…好得多！ 今天真是美不胜收。 星期五，二O一二年七月廿七日
我们早场《音乐人》少儿剧演得不错，观众都是来自捷门堂夏令营的营员。不过，扮演镇长的演员不像昨个儿那样精神十足。事后，老师马上给他指了出来。演出期间，观众非常无礼，中场嘘声四起。最奇怪的是，大家都喜欢口吃的温斯罗普这个角色。 夜场演得非常棒！爸爸特意跑来观看，并实打实表扬了我一番。表演结束后，我们全体演员在观众面前郑重地向剧组老师和工作人员赠送礼物。接到礼物时，实习生看上去都很惊讶。 更衣室里，我尽量多花些时间跟每一位剧组成员道别，除了我的校友悉尼以外，大家一年后才会重逢。 剧院走廊里有一“亲吻演员”壁报专栏，上面给每位演员准备了一个棕色纸袋，父母、同伴、老师、甚至观众可以把明信片和礼物放在里面。我一共有七张贺卡和一小把赫氏巧克力，分别来自我的父母、老师、实习生和舞台导演贝斯。妈妈只允许我吃一块，因为我有太多的蛀牙。 我在钟楼戏剧院夏令营的这段时光真爽！
【后语】 五个星期捷门堂钟楼戏剧院夏令营即将过去，最让我家童少动情难忘的时刻当属最后登台表演。我完全搞不明白，一个极不善于宾州光华中文学校演讲比赛中面对只有廿多位同班同学的孩子，怎么能够又唱又跳又说又笑又演又……，神情自若地面对剧院内几百号观众，而且定要明年再来？
