And the world was calm. The truth in a calm world, In which there is no other meaning, itself

是宁静，是夏夜，归根结底 是夜深看书的读者。 【注】宾夕法尼亚“山林”州雄鹿郡的廊桥，是这片土地上最温柔的地标。它们横跨在那些无名的小溪上，隐没在枫树和橡树的浓荫里，像是从19世纪走来的老人，静静地诉说着往事。 这些桥又被称作"吻桥"——一个带着羞涩与浪漫的名字。在那个马车悠悠的年代，年轻的情侣驾着马车穿过廊桥，桥内光线昏暗，四下无人，便可以偷偷地亲一下。廊桥的顶棚遮住了外界的目光，也遮住了少女脸上泛起的红晕。据说，在那个礼教森严的岁月里，这是年轻人唯一能够亲密接触的地方。一座廊桥，就这样成了无数爱情的见证者。 雄鹿郡现存12座这样的廊桥，大多建于1826年至1875年间，那是美国廊桥建造的黄金时期。它们全部涂着暖调沉稳的红漆——不是因为红色好看，而是因为红漆最便宜，也最能保护木质结构不受风雨侵蚀。铁锈红的桥身在翠绿的树林和金黄的原野间格外醒目，成了乡村风景中最动人的点缀。 走进廊桥内部，光线立刻暗了下来。两侧的百叶窗透进几缕斜阳，照亮了空气中飘浮的尘埃。车轮在木板上碾过的痕迹，还深深地刻在那里。桥身的桁架结构交错纵横，像巨大的积木搭成的迷宫。用手摸摸那些木梁，还能感受到一百多年前工匠们留下的体温。 廊桥的质朴魅力，正在于它的不设防。它不像城市里的钢铁大桥那样巍峨壮观，只是谦卑地俯身在小溪上，让农夫的马车、孩子们的脚步、情侣们的马车从身上经过。风吹雨打，日晒夜露，它都默默地承受着，从不抱怨。 如今，汽车已经不再需要从廊桥上通过，它们有了更宽阔、更坚固的新桥。但这些老桥还在，成了美国乡村历史的象征。游客们从世界各地赶来，在桥上拍照，在桥下野餐，在桥边发呆。偶尔还能看到一对年轻的情侣，在桥的阴影里，悄悄地接吻。 150年的时光，就这样被一座桥连接了起来。从前的马车，今天的汽车；从前的情侣，今天的游客；从前的麦田，今天的风景——一切都变了，又似乎什么都没变。廊桥还在，红色的漆还在，吻桥的名字还在，而那些关于爱的故事，还在继续发生。  Cabin Run Covered Bridge (1871) w/ Vertical Board Siding on the Sides, Portals & Interior Walls
