我家地下室那台乒乓球桌，闲置了大半年，终于等来冬天。宾夕法尼亚“山林”州天寒地冻的四个月，它便重回舞台中央——茶余饭后，娘俩轮番上阵，推挡之间，筋骨舒络，笑声四起。对当地人而言，乒乓不过是一种娱乐，就像自行车之于中国，曾几何时只是代步工具，跟运动不沾边。但对我而言，那方绿胶面的球桌，藏着半生的来路。 我像他这般年纪时，已是校队队员。那年教练到班上选人，我侥幸从排队接球的孩子里被挑了出来。此后六年，每天放学练球，寒暑不辍，一路从区级打到市级，进了少年业余体校。后来密集的比赛压得人喘不过气，兴趣在胜负里磨薄了，趁小学毕业，我毅然放下球拍。却不曾想，几年后又在大学研究生队里靠那点“老本”找到快意——那是我第一次尝到“一技之长”带来的、纯粹为自己打的快乐。 如今轮到孩子上场。他看了一整夏的伦敦奥运会乒乓球赛，忽发奇想要当勇士。我本可以亲自教他——凭当年“冬练三九夏练三伏”的底子，启蒙绰绰有余。可我怕自己拿捏不好分寸：不是溺爱到失了原则，就是严厉到忘了耐心。于是我请了一位前国家队选手——卢教练，左手直拍，近台快攻，拿过世界大学生运动会冠军。她给孩子配齐行头那天，账单让我倒吸一口冷气：桨宫底板、蝴蝶胶面、超轻球鞋……全套400美元。想当年我进少业体，才用上7块钱的“红双喜”。时代不同，价格天壤之别，怎一个“品味”了得？ 可我看着他换好球衣、握紧新拍，站到球台前的那副神情——认真得几乎有些虔诚。那400美元花在哪里，忽然不那么重要了。重要的是，他正在用自己的方式，走进一个我走过、又走出来的世界。他未必知道这条路的深浅，可他迈出第一步时，眼光是亮的。而我会站在球台对面，把球喂到他最舒服的位置。比起教他赢，我更像是在把自己缺席多年的那一拍，稳稳地送回童年。  Dick's Sporting Goods (迪克体育用品 09-16-2012)
