这次，不到八岁的娃儿得知“月全食”与“冬至”要在北美夜空高调相见，提前几天便开始部署观赏方案，发誓要大饱眼福。通宵守夜哪成？当妈的我岂能袖手旁观！于是，替娃儿值班守夜的美差自然落到了我的头上。从午夜12点开始坐镇，唯恐一时贪睡贻误娃儿心愿。趁月偏食当头，我仔细把持时辰，决定不到最后一刻绝不叫醒娃儿。约莫一个钟头后，娃儿在我一声令下，一个筋斗从梦乡里翻腾起来——02:41分全食开始，03:17观赏最佳，03:57分食甚结束，05:01分半影月食，历时3小时28分的月食终于消失。 皎洁的月亮像打了诱人的底彩，被地球大气折射出的太阳光线衬得红铜铜的。睡房的天窗得天独厚，恰好占据了观月赏食的有利位置，无意间成了装裱月色的最佳镜框。娃儿大可不必遭受宾夕法尼亚“山林”州入冬以来旷日持久的朔风严寒，舒舒服服躺在温暖的被窝里，尽情饱览整个月球进入地球本影的精彩过程。据说上次“月食”约“冬至”鹊桥幽会，是1991年。“那时，”我告诉娃儿，“妈妈正年轻气盛，从北京漂洋过海来到美国才一年多。”“为了来看它俩？”娃儿好奇地问。 推算下次“月食”携“冬至”同台亮相的日子，在2094年。“到时，”我答非娃儿所问，“妈妈想老当益壮，乘太空梭船从得道成仙的天堂跨银河跃玉海来到此地此景，就是为了来看它俩！”娃儿躺回枕头上，又仰头看了一眼天窗外那枚渐行渐远的红铜色的月亮。沉默了一会儿，他说：“妈妈，那时候你几岁？”我没有回答。他在被窝里悄悄算了一下，然后说：“100多岁。”又停了一会儿：“那我也要来看它俩——我坐飞机来，你坐船来，我们就在月亮下面碰头。”——我没有告诉他，到那时他早已比现在的我老得多；也没有告诉他，我指的“得道成仙”不过是个玩笑。我只是掖了掖他的被角，说：“好。那说定了。”他点点头，像签署一份跨越两个世纪的约。窗外的月亮正在缓缓退出地球的影子，像一盏被重新点亮的灯。那一刻我忽然觉得，月食并不罕见——罕见的是，有人在它发生的时候，把时间折成两个端点，用一句话把它们连了起来。下次月亮再红，我已经不在了。但2094年的那个冬至夜，他会站在某扇天窗下，替我记得。
