         I walked gnawing, buying 

         unmentionable newspapers, 

         smoking Juba then suppressed

       Maybe a wrong train, duplication, or a subtraction. 

         I scanned the barrows of porters, 

         if ever there was inside your luggage, 

         and you behind, late. 

         Then he appeared last. 

         It is a thing among many others. 

         In the dream haunts me.

【注】威尼斯“水城”因水而生，118座岛屿由438座桥梁串联成精密而流动的城市有机体。桥不仅是通途，更是建筑艺术与历史叙事的交汇点，是陆地与水巷之间最温柔的缝合线。我站在里亚托“高岸”桥上，俯瞰贡多拉悠然滑过，仿佛听见数百年前商贾云集的喧腾余韵——这座单拱石桥将市集嵌入了城市最核心的节点，把威尼斯人骨子里的精明与浪漫，一并砌进了洁白的伊斯特拉“魔法之地”(Istria)石里。而叹息桥则以一道优雅的弧线跨过窄窄的运河，连接审讯室与牢狱。我仰头望去，阳光透过石窗落在水面上斑驳摇曳，那一瞬忽然觉得，传说中囚犯的叹息，或许正是这座城本身为那些再也回不来的自由而发出的低语。

438座桥形态各异，或朴或华，或连教堂广场，或隐于深巷转角。它们编织成一张灵动的水上交通网络，让威尼斯虽漂浮于水域之上，却从未真正割裂。我常常在巷口迷路，却又总在某一座无名小桥上重新找回方向——桥是这座城市的答案，是它给所有迷途者的温柔回应。每一座桥，都是威尼斯人对自然的智慧回应，也是历史与日常在石与水之间的低声对话。

里亚托桥诉说着商业的荣光，叹息桥低语着过往的悲怆，而无数无名小桥，则默默承载着威尼斯人千百年来的日常生活。正是这438座桥梁，使分散的岛屿汇聚为一座完整、流动、生生不息的桥梁之城。走完一座城，其实也就是走完了它的桥——威尼斯教会我的，不是如何不迷路，而是放心地把自己交给水、交给石、交给那一座座沉默而深情的桥。

1987年，威尼斯及其泻湖被联合国教科文组织纳入《世界遗产名录》。
