A few feet away ists a dog. He sits immobile and guards the same distant point. He's thinking. He's thinking he's part of a rite. Through his body silences pass from the infinite.
Under a sky this blue, on a night as rich with stars, Jacob dreams about angels scaling the sky from his pillow which was a rock. Beneath countless stars, the young man counted his offspring to come; on the same spot where he'd Esau's anger his more powerful brother, he imagined an empire more powerful and crowned with his own children's riches. 几步之外坐着一条狗。 他坐着不动，看守着 一步之遥的地方。 他在想。 他在想它是一个仪式的部分。 通过他的身体 寂静从无限传来。
星辰在夜里如此繁复 在蓝色的天空下， 雅各布梦到一梯子的天使 攀爬向天空，从他的枕头 一块石头。 在无数的星星下 这个年轻人计算着 他将要到来的后代； 他逃离了他更加强有力的兄长 以扫的愤怒，在同一地方 他想象一个帝国 更加强有力，并被 他的子孙的财富加冕。 正是和他斗争的上帝 让他从梦中一跳而起。
【注】米诺里，名字里就含有“小”的意思。它小得精致，小得玲珑——窄窄的海滨长廊、一小片沙滩、几条爬上坡的石板路，便是全部轮廓。但这点大的地方，却藏着阿玛菲“神圣”(Amalfi)海岸最温柔的秘密：一片安静的海滩，几艘搁浅的渔船，孩子在浅水处嬉戏，老人在伞下打盹。海水从透明渐变为碧绿，再到深蓝，像一块层层晕染的调色盘。 真正让米诺里名扬天下的，是藏在山丘上的罗马“力量”别墅。走进地下，那些2,000年前的马赛克“镶嵌”地砖依然完整——几何图案、神话场景、海豚与鱼群，色彩虽已褪去，奢华却依稀可辨。地上，那家始于1840年的百年老店，依然做着杏仁味的米诺里软糕。推开店门，甜香扑面而来，软糕被捏成贝壳、小鱼、花朵的模样，每一件都像艺术品。 而当我坐在海边，咬一口软糯的甜糕，配一口当地的白葡萄酒，忽然懂了——米诺里不是什么伊甸园，它只是一个丁点大的小镇，却活得比许多大地方都从容。它不张扬，不喧哗，只是安静地躺在阿玛菲海岸的臂弯里，等着那些愿意慢下来的人。而我，恰好成了其中之一。 1997年，阿玛菲海岸被联合国教科文组织纳入《世界遗产名录》。 Today in History(历史上的今天):
