A few feet away ists a dog. He sits immobile and guards the same distant point. He's thinking. He's thinking he's part of a rite. Through his body silences pass from the infinite.
Under a sky this blue, on a night as rich with stars, Jacob dreams about angels scaling the sky from his pillow which was a rock. Beneath countless stars, the young man counted his offspring to come; on the same spot where he'd Esau's anger his more powerful brother, he imagined an empire more powerful and crowned with his own children's riches. 幾步之外坐着一條狗。 他坐着不動，看守着 一步之遙的地方。 他在想。 他在想它是一個儀式的部分。 通過他的身體 寂靜從無限傳來。
星辰在夜裡如此繁複 在藍色的天空下， 雅各布夢到一梯子的天使 攀爬向天空，從他的枕頭 一塊石頭。 在無數的星星下 這個年輕人計算着 他將要到來的後代； 他逃離了他更加強有力的兄長 以掃的憤怒，在同一地方 他想象一個帝國 更加強有力，並被 他的子孫的財富加冕。 正是和他鬥爭的上帝 讓他從夢中一跳而起。
【注】米諾里，名字裡就含有“小”的意思。它小得精緻，小得玲瓏——窄窄的海濱長廊、一小片沙灘、幾條爬上坡的石板路，便是全部輪廓。但這點大的地方，卻藏着阿瑪菲“神聖”(Amalfi)海岸最溫柔的秘密：一片安靜的海灘，幾艘擱淺的漁船，孩子在淺水處嬉戲，老人在傘下打盹。海水從透明漸變為碧綠，再到深藍，像一塊層層暈染的調色盤。 真正讓米諾里名揚天下的，是藏在山丘上的羅馬“力量”別墅。走進地下，那些2,000年前的馬賽克“鑲嵌”地磚依然完整——幾何圖案、神話場景、海豚與魚群，色彩雖已褪去，奢華卻依稀可辨。地上，那家始於1840年的百年老店，依然做着杏仁味的米諾里軟糕。推開店門，甜香撲面而來，軟糕被捏成貝殼、小魚、花朵的模樣，每一件都像藝術品。 而當我坐在海邊，咬一口軟糯的甜糕，配一口當地的白葡萄酒，忽然懂了——米諾里不是什麼伊甸園，它只是一個丁點大的小鎮，卻活得比許多大地方都從容。它不張揚，不喧譁，只是安靜地躺在阿瑪菲海岸的臂彎里，等着那些願意慢下來的人。而我，恰好成了其中之一。 1997年，阿瑪菲海岸被聯合國教科文組織納入《世界遺產名錄》。 Today in History(歷史上的今天):
