          Very quietly I take my leave

          To seek a dream? Just to pole a boat upstream

          To where the green grass is more verdant;

          Or to have the boat fully loaded with starlight

          And sing aloud in the splendor of starlight.

          But I cannot sing aloud

          Quietness is my farewell music;

          Even summer insects heap silence for me

          Silent is Cambridge tonight!

                轻轻的我走了，

                正如我轻轻的来；

                作别西天的云彩。

                那河畔的金柳，

                是夕阳中的新娘；

                波光里的艳影，

                在我的心头荡漾。

                软泥上的青荇，

                油油的在水底招摇；

                在康桥的柔波里，

                我甘做一条水草！

                那榆荫下的一潭，

                不是清泉，是天上虹；

                揉碎在浮藻间，

                沉淀着彩虹似的梦。

                寻梦？撑一支长篙，

                向青草更青处漫溯；

                满载一船星辉，

                在星辉斓里放歌。

                但是我不能放歌，

                悄悄是别离的笙萧；

                夏虫也为我沉默，

                沉默是今晚的康桥！

【注】前门大街坐落在北京中轴线上，南起珠市口，北至正阳门箭楼，800余米长，500余年史。明清时，它是皇城与南城的分界，也是京城最热闹的商街。庚子年间一把大火烧成白地，而后依原样重建——青砖灰瓦间混着西洋拱窗与巴洛克“不对称”山花，中西合璧，浑然一体，硬是在废墟上长出了一条筋骨硬朗的新街。

街上的老店也硬。全聚德的鸭子从同治三年烤到现在，炉火未断；都一处乾隆年间受过御笔，月盛斋的酱牛肉曾专送宫里，大北照相馆1921年开张，同仁堂更早——康熙八年就有了。这些铺子垒在一起，把前门大街垒成了北京最有烟火气的一条街。铺板卸下，伙计摆货，小贩吆喝，游客举着手机拍那些老招牌——丑是丑了点，老是真的老。不是被设计出来的，是一天一天熬出来的。

500多年了，它见过皇帝出巡的排场，也挨过那把大火；迎过车水马龙，也熬过动动荡荡。如今它还在那里，青砖灰瓦，灯红酒绿。我站在正阳门箭楼对面，看铺板一块块卸下来，看游客举着手机对着老招牌拍照，看伙计擦柜台摆货——突然觉得，这条街不是用来逛的，是用来活的。它不跟你讲历史，它让你自己听：炉火声、蒸汽声、一声“您来了”。你不一定全听懂，可你觉得它在说——说的不是北京的历史，是北京的日子。历史是人写的，日子是自己过的。前门大街替北京人把日子过在这里了，500年，没断过。
