【Hope and Dashed Hope】 Dao BEI (1949—) Hope, hope, where can I find hope? Between the collapse of two waves, Between two rippled peaks, And in the valley of waves, there hides hope.
If hope's peak never sinks into valleys, The sea shall lose its existence, for a waveless sea is A breathless bosom that breathes nothing but death, No matter how heroic, how grand it appears.
History falls from crest to trough, And from trough rises to crest again. Hope is our helmsman When we sink into the rippled valley.
