〖My First Day of School〗

On my first day of school, I was nervous and scared. Fortunately, I saw that many of my old friends were present, especially those at my table. We introduced ourselves, and I thought I had made new friends immediately.

〖Johnny Appleseed Day〗

On Johnny Appleseed Day, we ate small apple pies we made and watched a very cool movie, "Johnny Appleseed." I learned about where Johnny Appleseed grew up and how John Chapman traveled to the American frontier and helped Indians. I even heard that he could talk to animals. It was a fantastic day!

〖Halloween〗

On Halloween, we dressed up as ghosts, zombies, and phantoms. We paraded around the school and ate snacks. A pizza party was served for lunch. We played Bingo afterward. If someone hits Bingo, they could get a prize. It was fun, although I didn't win many awards. Then we sat down to watch a horror movie, "Charlie Brown." In the end, the film wasn't terrifying, though.

〖Timeline〗

For my timeline, I covered all the fun events from 2003, when I was born, to 2011. During those years, many exciting moments occurred in my life.

At the age of 4, I celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival for the first time. Later, I went to Hawaii, where I viewed five of the eight islands in the Pacific Ocean from my home near the Atlantic Ocean in three weeks.

At the age of 5, I returned to China for the Religious Festival and my birthday in a traditional Chinese style.

Later, I spent two years touring at least a dozen countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

At almost 7, I was out of school for about a month on an educational trip to New Zealand and Australia in the southern hemisphere.

At age 8, I journeyed to ancient Egypt in North Africa. Vacations around the globe have always been my favorite.

〖Heritage Day〗

On Heritage Day, we shared our food and explained how our cultures work. I chose China because my parents originated from there. I told everybody about Chinese traditions and history. When it came to geography, I mentioned 14 countries that bordered China to them. Bhutan, North Korea, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Nepal, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Burma (also known as Myanmar), India, and Pakistan. After I described China's 5,000-year-old history, I gave out my homemade dumplings. Everybody liked them. They lumped their stomach.

〖Buddies Party〗

My sixth-grader buddy came to our classroom at our Buddies party, and we ate delicious pizza and snacks together. Guess what? We also had two popsicles and a long conversation. It felt like we hadn't seen each other for a long time. I'm excited to be in sixth grade!

〖Fables〗

We were learning about fables, so Mrs. Kalikow decided we needed a break. She asked whether we could adapt our fables into plays. My story was titled 'The Monkey and the Fox.' Its main idea was that the monkey and fox wanted to eat the pears. They managed to get on the pear tree, which grows on an isolated island. I played the monkey, and Sea acted the fox. We had a fun time performing.

〖Biography〗

I chose Thomas Jefferson for my biography because he had an exciting life. He wanted to be remembered by the third President of the United States, not as the Louisiana Purchase in the 19th century. Another thing was that he had seven children, and most of them died of diseases at a young age, unfortunately. Mr. Jefferson was also an inventor and a truly talented man.

〖Commercial〗

We were learning about persuasive writing. So each of us decided to make a commercial about it. My product was called Chicken O's. They look like O's, like hula hoops, and taste like chicken. Chicken O's contain 50 grams of protein and always come in cans. You can obtain them anywhere and at any time. We performed our persuasive commercials for the class.

〖Electric Houses〗

In science, we learned about electricity. The teacher asked us to design and build our own houses. She said that they had to include at least one light bulb. It took many days, but it worked. I completed my series circuit successfully.

〖Grandparents Day〗

Every year, our grandparents come over. When they visited us, we had a play called "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." However, we made our version. In the story, I played the shark that caught the pig. The play worked out well.

〖Field Trip〗

This year, we had a field trip to Peace Valley Park. I liked it because we could get wet and muddy in our shoes and find crayfish. We also discovered a lot of larvae. Then, we conducted chemical testing to assess the clarity of the water in the river. It was very calm and fun.

〖Remark〗

The path of knowledge makes for a brighter and better future. I love to learn!

〖About the Author〗

Aiden is a student at Montgomery Elementary School. He likes to play soccer and tennis. A hobby of his is reading. He is very good at math. Aiden is looking forward to fourth grade.

〖開學頭一天〗

開學頭一天，我豈止緊張不安，真正說起來應該算作比較害怕。僥倖的是，我遇到不少老朋友，特別是就座在我書桌周圍的幾位。彼此自我介紹之後，我反而結交了新知。

〖蘋果節〗

蘋果節那一天，我們品嘗了自己親手製作的小型蘋果餡餅，觀看了一部非同尋常的電影《撒播希望種子的男孩》。從中我得知蘋果種子如何開花結果，約翰•查普曼怎樣去西部拓荒幫助印第安部落。我甚至還聽說，他能跟動物聊天。今天真是美不勝收！

〖萬聖節〗

在萬聖節上，我們分別打扮成妖魔鬼怪、行屍走肉和神仙幽靈，沿校內一邊遊行一邊嚼着零食，午餐又吃了比薩餅。隨後我們一起玩賓果遊戲，誰拿到“賓果”，誰還能得獎哇。我倒沒獲什麼獎品，不過玩得相當開心。最終，我們坐下來觀賞恐怖片《查理•布朗》，其實沒有事先想象的那麼可怕。

〖大事記〗

說起我的大事記，得從2003年我出生那年開始，截至到2011年撰稿為止。期間，確有不少事情發生。

四歲時，我先在北京頭一次在中國歡度春節；後又花上整整三個星期，從大西洋這邊飛往太平洋那邊的夏威夷，遊覽了八個島中的五個。

次年春節，我再度重返北京，不僅趕上了廟會，而且還隆重舉行了具有中國特色的慶生聚會。

接下來兩年裡，我分別去過中美洲至少一打兒加勒比海島國。

快到七歲時，我接着向學校告假一個月，跑到南半球的新西蘭和澳大利亞接受課外教育。

八歲時，我又輾轉到北非，親自考察古埃及現狀。週遊世界確是我最開心的事情。

〖文化節〗

在文化節上，同學之間相互分享食物，介紹文化背景。我選擇中國作為演講話題，因為我的父母都是炎黃子孫。我向同學們分別講述了中國的傳統和歷史。涉及到地理部分，我一一羅列了與中國接壤的14國家。它們是：不丹、北朝鮮、蒙古、塔吉克、尼泊爾、吉爾吉斯斯坦、俄羅斯、哈薩克、老撾、越南、阿富汗、緬甸、印度、巴基斯坦等。待講完中國5,000年歷史之後，我請大家品嘗自家包的水煎餃，同學們交口稱讚。那一天結束時，我們每一位都撐得要死。

〖搭檔聚會〗

我的搭檔^*是一位六年級的學姐。這次搭檔聚會，她特意到班上找我。我倆坐在一塊共同吃比薩餅享用零食。出乎意料地，我們一連吃了2根冰棒，並聊了相當長時間，好像彼此很久沒有見面似的。我恨不能也長成六年級的學生！

^*搭檔是學校開展“以老帶新”扶幼聯誼的產物，聽起來很像當年我們經歷的“一幫一”、“一對紅”活動。通常畢業班六年級的學生被分配到低年級來，幫助學弟學妹解答學習上的問題。一般來說，學長跟學弟搭檔，學姐同學妹結伴，可我家童少班上23位同學中，男生有16位，女生僅剩七位，像當今中國一樣，男女比例嚴重失調！

〖寓言故事〗

在學寓言故事時，凱麗蔻太太開恩，要我們放鬆休息一會兒。她問我們能否把自己編寫的寓言故事改成劇本，就這樣，我的《猴子和狐狸》誕生了。故事梗概如下：猴子和狐狸都想吃梨，於是它倆設法去摘下孤島長的梨子。劇中我演猴子，肖恩扮狐狸，我們配合得很有趣。

〖個人生平〗

對於個人生平，我選擇了托馬斯•傑斐遜，其生活激起了我極大的興趣。主要因為他想要以美國第三任總統流芳百世，而不僅僅作為十九世紀“路易斯安那購買條約”簽約者的身份。還有一個原因就是，他有7個孩子，不幸的是大多數年紀很輕時便因病不治而終。傑斐遜先生還是一位發明家，堪稱名符其實的天才。

〖商務廣告〗

我們學寫具有說服性的文章，為此，班上每一位同學都需要製作廣告。我的產品叫“雞味‘O’”，看上去像呼啦圈，吃起來帶有雞的味道，雞味“O”含有50克蛋白質，聽式包裝，隨時隨地保障供應。我們一一面向全班表演自己的作品。

〖電房子〗

科學課上，我們學習電流。老師要求我們自己建房，其中至少安裝一個燈泡。大家花了幾天時間，好不容易完成作業。我也把線路連接得好好的。

〖祖父母節〗

每一年，祖父母都會到學校來。他們來時，我們必定要表演保留劇目《吞食蒼蠅的老婦人》。不過，這回我們編出不同版本，我扮演會抓豬八戒的鯊魚。演出非常成功。

〖野外考察〗

今年我們去和平谷公園野外考察。我非常喜歡那裡，因為大家可以打濕衣服、搞髒鞋子，滿處尋找淡水螯蝦。我們還發現了許多幼蟲。後來，我們又對河水進行了化學檢測，看它是否潔淨，簡直有趣的不得了。

兒歌是蒙哥馬利小學學生，喜歡踢足球和打網球，愛好閱讀，擅長數學，非常期待四年級學生生涯。

【後語】

根據十八年教學經驗，班主任凱麗蔻太太(Mrs. Kalikow)深知，培養人才一定得從長計議，從眼下每一件不足掛齒的“小事”做起。於是自小學三年級開學伊始，她便全盤部署教學計劃，決定在暑假到來之前，要求全班學生各自將學校生活整理成章，並編輯成8開圖書畫冊──三年級回憶錄，左邊一頁標有文字說明，右邊一頁貼上全部由凱麗蔻太太拍攝提供的相片，我家童少再前序後跋，沿着每頁四周添植加葉，點綴出各式各樣的花邊。就這樣，《三年級回憶錄》從頭到尾手工製作，堪稱無價之寶，令我們回味終生。
