离家不远的费城“兄弟之爱”，是一座拥有330年历史的古城。它不及纽约“新紫衫树之地”殷实气派，不似洛杉矶“天使城”潇洒时尚，不比芝加哥“野洋葱”典雅漂亮，也不如休斯敦“灵魂之城”现代开放，却自有一派书卷气息——公立私立大学横贯全城，综合专科学府包罗万象，既是传播智慧的殿堂，也是栽培精英的摇篮。岁月像一把杀猪刀，费城容颜已改，却因一颗永远年轻的心，依然令人心向往之。 身边华裔子女偏爱宾大(UPenn)、柯蒂斯(Curtis)、摩尔(Moore)艺术设计学院；当地百姓热衷社区学院与神学院；郊外老乡欣赏两年制技校——在费城，不愁找不到学上，不愁拿不到文凭。我一直把它视为“大学城”，是年轻人追逐梦想的世外桃源，是似水年华里引吭高歌的地方。即使不做学问，也常想借故浏览校园——沾不上书香，领略一回清幽阳光，见识一些稚气的新生力量，心里也生出莫大的欢喜。感恩节这天，因接人送客，我第一次走进圣约瑟夫大学。川儿是大学同窗的女儿，就读南科大四年级，作为交换生来美实习半年。我以长辈兼东道主身份尽地主之谊，吹拉弹唱，不觉时光飞逝。要不是她们赶着“黑色星期五”血战商场，我情愿跟她们再年轻一会儿——青春永驻，魅力常在。 那天傍晚，我们走在圣约瑟夫大学的校园里。川儿指着路边一栋爬满常春藤的老楼，说那是她最常去的自习室。暮色从藤蔓间漏下来，在台阶上洒成深浅不一的碎光。我忽然觉得，这些老楼之所以仍然动人，不是因为它们保存得好，而是因为它们仍在被使用——每一扇亮着灯的窗户后面，都有一群正在追问的人。他们问着和几十年前相同的问题，用不同的语汇，在不同的时代里，为同一个世界涂抹新的色彩。我走在那条铺满落叶的小径上，听着川儿及其好友轶鸥聊选课、聊未来、聊那些还没被解决的问题，忽然明白，校园之所以年轻，不是因为它永远不变，而是因为它一直在回答新的疑问。送她们去商场的路口，川儿回头冲我挥了挥手，那动作轻快得像一个未完的句子。而我站在原地，也觉得自己的脚步比来时轻盈了一些——像是被她们的年轻，悄悄借走了几步。 Today in History(历史上的今天): 2010: 小学二年级·秋收季节(2010 Harvest Season) 2009: 小学一年级·记忆(2009年记忆)
