【Aiden in English】 (I didn’t write about game 4 because I was not there to play. There was an important band concert.) Here’s the thing. Waking up on Saturday morning is always a pain. Obviously, it is the only day that I’m not on a strict time schedule. And of course, this Saturday was going to have an early basketball game. After the schedule shifted around for a while, the time and place were decided at the old gym of my middle school at 9:00 in the morning. Nothing ever feels good at nine in the morning on the weekends.
I kind of feel bad for the opposing team, as only 7 of 10 players showed. In other words, the order of their line-up had many instances where only guards were on the floor. This was absolutely gorgeous.
Our team ran a 2-3 zone, which basically meant two players guarded the three-point line and three defended the paint and corners. In terms of basketball, the 2-3 protects the paint, but the downside is the open threes. On this day, when most of the opposing team’s big men weren’t present, our coach quickly adjusted us to a 3-2. It really was just three people guarding the three-point line and two standing in the paint.
The game started for us extremely slow. The opponents went on a 6-0 run to start, but after heating up, the game returned to a tie at eight apiece. I felt weird because the game was so early, and no one was making any jump shots. Then, things began to change.
At half-time, the game had swung around. We ended on a three-point bang to beat the clock, which I personally think switched the momentum around. At the half-time break, something about the team woke up. Maybe it was the morning or an off day, but the first half was full of missed three-pointers that were wide-open. To start the second half, our team saw a downpour of scores, some from driving and threes. I surprisingly thought that the game would become a defensive grind, but it never was the case. The third quarter was a blowout for us, and because of this momentum, we ran up the lead. This was where the line-up holes hurt the opposing team; they had five guards on the floor at one time because their duo of big men needed rest. The funny thing is, their offense seemed to slightly get better with a small ball, and when their big men left the floor, the point guards seemed to be able to penetrate with ease. Not that it mattered by then, but it is something to keep in mind.
So, with the game results in the books, there isn’t much to say about this win. I don’t really think this proves anything since the other team was missing, well, nearly half the team. I know we’ll see them in more important games, and this win is important in order to know their strengths when the time comes these games do matter.

Today in History(歷史上的今天): 2017 CNY Gala @ CGCC(2017年神州基督教會春晚聯歡) 2017: Conn-Selmer Band Clinic(康塞爾默樂隊技術指導) 2009: 巴拿馬運河(Panama Canal)
