【注】波尔多“水边”的记忆是深红色的，像陈酿的红酒，沉静而绵长。加龙“多石”河穿城而过，18世纪的石砌建筑在阳光下泛着蜜色的光泽——法国人称它为“睡美人”，高卢“雄鸡”人眼里它是最美的都市。但这座以美酒闻名的城市，也曾两次做过国家危难时的临时心脏：一战时巴黎受困，政府迁至此；1940年巴黎沦陷，波尔多再次成为法兰西的临时首都，随后落入德军控制，直到1944年盟军登陆才获解放。

战争结束时，波尔多差点迎来毁灭。1944年8月，希特勒下令炸毁月亮港，港口储存着足以摧毁整个港区的弹药。执行命令的德国海军军官亨利·萨尔米德“领主·安全”(Henri Salmide)却在最后一刻违抗了命令——他亲手引爆了弹药库，不是为了摧毁港口，而是为了阻止更大的破坏。他的行动保住了月亮港，也救下了大约3,500名法国人的性命。战后，他被法国人视为英雄，但他只说，那是一个普通人的选择。

我站在月亮港边，河水是灰绿色的，安静得像什么都没发生过。可我知道，80年前的那个夏天，一个德国军官站在这里，做了他本不必做的事。他不是英雄，他只是一个没有把手上的权力用完的人。那些被救下的人早已老去，港口还在，水还在流。萨尔米德的名字刻在某个角落里，不显眼，可它在那里。这让我想起，历史往往不是被伟人改写的，是被那些在关键时刻只做了一件事的普通人——没有选择服从，而是选择了自己。我抬头看了一会儿水面，觉得这座城市的好，不在它的酒，在它记得。它不是用碑记住的，是用港口还在运船、房子还在住人、生活还在继续来记住的。酒醒了，故事还在。
