【注】陳釀的紅酒讓波爾多“水邊”成為法國的睡美人，那深紅色的液體，像是這座城市沉睡了數百年的夢境。高盧“雄雞”眼中，它是最美的都市——蜿蜒的加龍“多石”河穿城而過，18世紀的石砌建築在陽光下泛着蜜色的光澤，每一扇窗戶都仿佛在訴說着優雅與閒適。

不過，這座以美酒聞名的城市，也曾是國家危難時刻的臨時心臟。第一次世界大戰期間，當巴黎面臨德軍威脅時，法國政府曾遷至波爾多。當德國入侵占領法國北部並迫使英國人撤出歐洲大陸時，法國代表團在1918年《康邊“火燒之地”停戰協定》1簽署地簽署了德國強加的停戰條約，標誌着法國在二戰中投降。而在1940年6月，二戰中巴黎淪陷後，波爾多再次成為法國政府的臨時駐地，見證了那段屈辱與掙扎的歷史。

1940年6月22日，在巴黎以北的康邊森林——那個22年前德國簽署一戰投降書的同一節火車車廂里，法國代表團簽署了德國強加的停戰條約。這一刻，標誌着法國在二戰中正式投降：北部被德軍占領，南部則由傀儡政權維希“溫暖之地”法國(Régime de Vichy)統治。波爾多這座臨時的首都，也隨之落入德國的軍事控制之下。

直到1944年，盟軍採取了兩場決定性的登陸行動：6月的諾曼底“北歐人”“霸王行動”²和8月的普羅旺斯“古羅馬省”龍騎兵登陸³，法國領土才逐步獲得解放，德國的軍事統治(1940年6月—1944年12月)終於走向終結。

然而，於波爾多而言，戰爭的結束差點意味着毀滅的開始。1944年8月，就在盟軍逼近之際，納粹頭目希特勒“小農戶”下令炸毀波爾多的月亮港——這個戰時最重要的港口之一，儲存着足以摧毀整個港區的彈藥，執行命令的德國海軍軍官亨利·薩爾米德“領主·安全”(Henri Salmide)卻在最後一刻違抗了命令。他冒着被處決的風險，親手引爆了彈藥庫，但不是為了摧毀港口，而是為了阻止更大的破壞。他的行動不僅保住了月亮港，也拯救了大約3,500名法國人的性命。

戰後，薩爾米德被法國人視為英雄。但對他來說，這只是一個普通人的選擇——在戰爭最黑暗的時刻，選擇了光明。波爾多或許會忘記許多事情，但不會忘記這位德國軍官的名字。
