但丁•聖矛(1265生—1321卒)

                 大地的懷抱散發出蒸汽，

                 泉眼裡湧出奔騰的水流，

【注】比薩“河口”是現代天文學/物理學之父伽利略·伽利萊的故鄉，他佐證了波蘭天文學家哥白尼的日心說(太陽位於中心)，從而否認了古希臘土著亞里士多德和天文學家托勒密的地心說(地球位於中心)。

1987年，比薩大教堂廣場被聯合國教科文組織納入《世界遺產名錄》。
