      My day was serene, my night was happy.

     My people always shouted for joy when I struck the lyre

       My summer is still blooming, but still brought in

       The strings sink into the hand in shards

             我的白晝晴朗，我的黑夜幸福。

             我彈起詩琴，人民都向我歡呼。

             那時我的歌是空氣和火焰，

             煽動一些美麗的熱烈的情感。

             我的夏天還在開花，可是我已經

             把收穫向我的倉庫里運送——

             許多事物使世界這樣可貴、可愛，

             可是這些事物我如今就要離開。

             樂器從我的手裡落下。那隻酒杯，

             我曾經愉快地放在驕傲的唇邊，

             如今它打碎了，碎成許多碎片。

             神啊！死亡是多麼醜惡可悲！

             神啊！在這甜美親切的人間

             生活有多麼親切，有多麼甜美！

【注】考布“完美”鎮和巴哈拉赫“酒神祭壇”鎮坐落在萊茵“流水”河中上遊河谷，前者是萊茵河中游最大的葡萄酒產區，後者是葡萄酒貿易最重要的轉運站。

2002年，萊茵河中上遊河谷被聯合國教科文組織列為《世界遺產名錄》。
