【注】位於紐約唐人街的顯聖容天主教堂最早由天主教血統的愛爾蘭人主導，隨着愛爾蘭人的同化，教堂長椅逐漸被意大利人占據，後來中國人漸成氣候，拯救了瀕於消亡的教堂，充分體現出教堂的靈活適應。如今，聖顯容教堂除了早年移民美國的廣東後裔之外，福建信徒急劇增加，業已壯大成為全美最大的華人天主教會。有趣地，福建的崇拜風格沿襲了17世紀天主教傳教士修會(Dominican Order of Catholic Missionaries)的傳統，並與上個世紀60年代初期梵蒂岡第二次大公會議(Second Vatican Council)所做出的變更有着明顯不同。

我來的時候時值周五上午十點鐘，恰逢參加敬拜的信徒開始彌撒，而帶領祈禱的林牧師來自福建省，能用四種語言接受懺悔，儘管多種語言並存，但大家都傳遞同一種鏗鏘有力的聲音。

1980年，聖顯容天主教堂被納入《美國國家歷史遺蹟名錄》。
