Lord, we declare that You have already destroyed Satan through Your death in the flesh on the cross. We pray that You would destroy Your enemy, the evil one, in Your recovery.
And the fifth angel trumpeted, and I saw a star out of heaven fallen to the earth, and to him was given the key of the pit of the abyss.

The last three trumpets will be the last three woes (9:12; 11:14) of the great tribulation (Matt. 24:21), which will occur in the last half of the seventieth week (Dan. 9:27), a period of (three and a half years) (Dan. 7:25; 12:7; Rev. 12:14), that is, (forty-two) months (11:2; 13:5), or (twelve hundred and sixty) days.
The star here refers to (Satan), who will be cast down from heaven to earth. The (angels) are likened to stars (Job 38:7; Rev. 12:4). Satan, as the archangel, was the (daystar) (Isa. 14:12, lit.). In Luke 10:18 the judgment upon him was mentioned. Here, and in 12:9-10, is the (execution) of that judgment. (See Rev. 8:13 note 1, 9:1 note 1)
